What happens during a heart attack?

 

  •  The heart, like the garden example, can experience prolonged "starvation" or angina before the affected muscle is irreversibly damaged and turns into scar tissue.
  • The damaged muscle turns sluggish and stiff, decreasing the ability of the heart to pump blood to the body.
