What is "diastolic" Heart failure?
- The walls of the heart muscle are fairly elastic (like the balloon example, below)
- When the heart muscle stiffens as a result of diseases like high blood pressure and certain heart muscle problems (tire example, above), it may produce symptoms of CHF. This is known as diastolic heart failure
