Is there hope for patients with CHF?

  • Yes!!
  • Medications like ACE inhibitors and adrenergic blockers have been shown to improve symptoms, decrease the need for hospitalization, and improve survival in CHF
  • Aggressive treatment of heart attacks with clot buster medications, balloon angioplasty and stents can decrease the amount of damage caused by CHF
  • Preventive measures and sticking to treatment plans are vital in avoiding hospitalization and improving survival
  • Heart transplantation may be considered in younger patients with severe CHF, if medical treatment fails
