What happens after the first 24 hours?

Depending upon how well the patient is doing, transfer to a step-down telemetry unit is arranged on the second day

Most patients are discharged in 2-4 days if hospital course is uneventful.

Patients with serious complications of a heart attack and those requiring surgery have a more prolonged hospitalization .
